Ever Thought About Owning a Business?

Maybe you've imagined building something of your own.

Creating your own network. Developing a reputation in the market. Growing a book of business. Having your income tied to what you produce instead of waiting for someone to decide when you've earned your next raise.

But maybe you don't want everything else that comes with business ownership.

Hiring and managing crews. Payroll. Equipment. Billing. Collections. Scheduling jobs. Managing operations. Handling customer complaints at 7 p.m.

What if you could have the entrepreneurial side of building a business without having to run the entire business?

That's what makes this opportunity different.

ServiceMaster of Charleston is looking for a Business Development Representative who wants to build a territory, develop a powerful professional network, and ultimately create a multimillion-dollar book of business.

We handle the restoration operation.

You build the relationships that feed it.

This Is Not a Typical Sales Job

You won't spend your day sitting behind a desk waiting for someone to give you leads.

You'll be in the Charleston market creating them.

You'll develop relationships with insurance professionals, property managers, plumbers, roofers, HVAC companies, contractors, commercial decision-makers, and other professionals who regularly encounter people and properties experiencing water, fire, mold, and other types of property damage.

Your job isn't to walk around telling people how great ServiceMaster is.

Your job is to understand how they operate, what happens when one of their customers needs help, who they currently rely on, what matters to them, and where an opportunity exists for us to earn their trust.

Then you stay in the relationship long enough to become the person they think of when something happens.

One relationship becomes an opportunity.

One opportunity becomes a job.

And over time, hundreds of strong relationships can become a serious book of business.

Build Something That Becomes Yours

We aren't hiring someone just to "do sales."

We're looking for someone who wants to build a market.

Your first year is about learning the business, developing relationships, creating your network, and proving that you can consistently turn activity into opportunities.

Then the game changes.

The relationships you developed in Year 1 don't disappear. You continue building on them while adding new ones.

That's where the compounding begins.

Our goal is to develop the right person into a multimillion-dollar producer with the potential to build toward $10 million in annual production.

That won't happen overnight.

And it won't happen accidentally.

It takes consistency, discipline, resilience, relationship-building ability, and the willingness to keep going when most people would get comfortable.

But if you've ever wanted to know what you could build when your income is connected to your ability to produce, this may be exactly the kind of opportunity you've been looking for.

What You'll Do

You'll spend most of your working day in the marketplace.

You'll:

  • Prospect and develop new referral relationships throughout the Charleston market
  • Build and manage your own network of qualified accounts
  • Meet business owners and professionals face-to-face
  • Develop relationships with insurance professionals, property managers, plumbers, roofers, HVAC companies, contractors, and other strategic partners
  • Learn how prospective partners currently handle restoration opportunities
  • Ask the right questions instead of delivering canned sales pitches
  • Identify opportunities where ServiceMaster can solve a problem or provide a better experience
  • Follow up consistently and intentionally
  • Maintain and grow existing relationships
  • Build a reputation as a trusted resource in your territory
  • Manage your pipeline and relationships through our CRM
  • Turn relationships into opportunities and opportunities into revenue
Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with entrepreneurial drive without the need for an entrepreneurial title.

You may have even considered owning a business someday.

You want autonomy, responsibility, growth, and financial upside, but you'd rather spend your energy building relationships and generating revenue than managing technicians, billing customers, buying equipment, processing payroll, or overseeing day-to-day restoration operations.

You'll probably thrive here if you:

  • Have a natural ability to connect with people
  • Walk into unfamiliar environments with confidence
  • Are comfortable starting conversations with people you've never met
  • Have high energy and prefer being in the field rather than sitting behind a desk
  • Are competitive with yourself and others
  • Like seeing measurable results from your effort
  • Don't need immediate gratification to stay motivated
  • Can hear "no" without losing momentum
  • Are persistent without becoming pushy
  • Build genuine relationships rather than simply collecting contacts
  • Take ownership of your results
  • Stay organized as your network grows
  • Are coachable and actually implement feedback
  • Don't need someone constantly checking whether you're working
  • Want your earning potential to grow as your production grows
  • Have the patience to build something substantial instead of chasing quick wins
Sales experience is valuable.

But hunger, discipline, confidence, curiosity, resilience, and coachability matter even more.

Restoration experience is not required.

We can teach you the industry. We can teach you the process. We can coach you on the strategy.

We can't manufacture ambition.

What You Get

You're not starting from scratch.

You'll have the backing of ServiceMaster of Charleston, an established restoration company with the operational infrastructure to perform the work your relationships generate.

That means you can focus on what you're being hired to become exceptional at:

Building relationships. Creating opportunities. Producing revenue. Growing your territory.

This full-time outside sales position includes:

  • Competitive base salary
  • Performance-based earning opportunities
  • Uncapped commission potential
  • Structured business development and sales training
  • Ongoing coaching and accountability
  • An established company and recognized brand behind you
  • Defined territory and market opportunity
  • Company resources and operational support
  • CRM and technology
  • Benefits and additional compensation details discussed during the interview process
This Probably Isn't For You If...

You're looking for leads to be handed to you.

You want most of your workday to happen from home.

You dislike walking into businesses where nobody is expecting you.

You need constant supervision to stay productive.

You expect relationships to produce results immediately.

You become discouraged after hearing "no."

You want the security of a salary without the responsibility that comes with producing.

Or you're looking for a comfortable position where Year 3 looks basically the same as Year 1.

But If You've Always Wanted to Build Something...

If part of you has always wondered what it would be like to build your own business, this might scratch that itch.

Build the network.

Build the reputation.

Build the book of business.

Build the income that comes with it.

And do it without having to worry about trucks, technicians, equipment, payroll, billing, collections, or running the restoration operation behind it.

ServiceMaster handles the restoration business.

Your job is to build the business that comes through the door.

If that sounds exciting rather than intimidating, we want to meet you.

Pay is $45,000-$87,000
