What Does a Water Mitigation Technician Do?

A water mitigation technician (water damage tech, drying tech or mitigation tech) responds to floods, leaks, burst pipes and sewage backups: extracting standing water, removing wet materials, setting dehumidifiers and air movers, taking moisture readings and logging the drying until the structure is dry.

The IICRC WRT and ASD certifications are the usual credentials, and most jobs include an on-call rotation.
